Adopt. You will be happier for it
To say dog ownership around me is high would be putting things mildly. The first house on our street has 6 dogs, if you include the 1 month old Boxer pup. Overall, the 10 houses on my street are home to 18 dogs. Surprisingly, only three of these dogs are Indie mix breeds.
I believe if more people knew about the merits of a regular mixed breed street dog, we'd see much higher adoption rates for these fellas.
Indigenous mixed breed dogs will almost certainly outlive your pure breed dog
If you are a dog lover, once you get your dog, your primary concern will be a long healthy life for your pet. Pure breed dogs start life with a disadvantage. The average pure breed dog is expected to live a shorter life than its mixed breed cousin. In general, the larger the breed the shorter the life span.

Indie mix breed dogs will be healthier
If a longer life span alone isn't enough to convince you to adopt, you should also know that Indie mix breed dogs suffer fewer ailments.
Most pure breed dogs available in India are bred relentlessly by kennels. This means they are often bred with other dogs that are closely related to it. This limits access to a wide gene pool, leading to higher risk of several chronic, genetic ailments. Even properly bred pure breed dogs are genetically predisposed to 10 debilitating / lethal ailments. Mixed breed dogs, on the other hand, are more likely to suffer 1 such ailment.

They are as trainable, intelligent and brave as any breed you could name
The Indie mixed breed has thrived because it has refined qualities that make for a good pet dog. It does not shed too much, is less prone to separation anxiety, and is faultlessly loyal. While some of this is difficult to substantiate with research driven evidence, my experience with training dogs confirms this.
